NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Centre men's basketball returned from a three-week break to face its toughest test of the season as the Colonels took on the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets, ranked no. 2 in the nation in all Division III basketball polls. RMC took this one by a score of 84-46.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Randolph-Macon grabbed the early advantage as Centre began the game ice cold from the field. A three-pointer from
Landen Hamilton was the only made field goal for the Colonels in the first eight minutes of action.
- The Colonels turned up the pressure on defense and forced some turnovers that led to easy baskets. After scoring three points in the first eight minutes, Centre scored nine points in the next 60 seconds to cut the deficit to 22-12, capped off by a layup from
Drake Ingram.
- The two teams traded baskets over the next six minutes, with Centre getting within eight points at 30-22 on a pair of
Kalib Thomas free throws.
- Over the final five minutes of the half, the Jackets outscored Centre 12-3 to take a 42-25 advantage at the break.
- Three-pointers from Hamilton and Ingram cut the margin to a dozen points early in the second half, but that was as close as Centre got the rest of the way as Randolph-Macon went on a 14-0 run to effectely put the game away.
