Men’s tennis extends win streak to four

DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre men's tennis has won the team's last four contests with the most recent coming via a 7-0 blanking of Transylvania University on Saturday.

Division III schools are playing the 2024-25 season under the 7-point dual match format. The ITA and the NCAA announced the one-year, joint pilot of the scoring format in July of 2024.

The singles portion was swept by the Colonels for the first time this spring season. That section of the match started with a Ty Bush win as the no. 1. He took down Jackson Fischer 7-5, 6-1.

Isaac Flanery won his first singles match of the year with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Ravi Tedeschi in the no. 2 match.

Jasper Gazzo won his second-straight match of 2025 on Saturday. The senior defeated Jacob Jiranek 6-3, 6-2 in the third-seeded match. Dylan Dethridge, on a five-match singles streak, sat down Alejandro Perez Canedo 6-4, 6-0 as the no. 4.

Centre's final two singles players allowed their opponents only one game win each. Jett Anderson put away Chase Moreman 6-0, 6-1 in the fifth-ranked match while Chase Turley triumphed 6-1, 6-0 over Tobias Mandeville in no. 6 action.

The Colonels earned the doubles point by taking two of three matches. Ty Bush and Dylan Dethridge teamed up for the first time this year, playing in the no. 2 slot, and won 7-6, 7-4 over Chase Moreman and Alejandro Perez Canedo.

Jett Anderson and Isaac Flanery won their second match as the third-ranked duo. They played Jonathan Kepnes and Tobias Mandeville in the 6-2 Centre win.

Chase Turley and Jasper Gazzo fell 7-5 in the top-seeded doubles match 7-5 to Jacob Jiranek / Jackson Fischer.
