Men’s tennis falls to Knights in Louisville

DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre men's tennis saw a win streak fall on Saturday as the Colonels fell to NCAA Division I institution Bellarmine 7-0. 

Centre showed fight in the top doubles match as Ty Bush and Ben Rueff won four games agaisnt Matthew Nice and Eli Wood before eventually falling 6-4 to the Knights' duo. 

The no. 2 pairing of Dylan Dethridge and Emilo Ventura Ramirez also won a game in a match they fell 6-1 in to Vineet Ramesh and Brent Reynolds. Luke English and Chase Turley, in their first pairing of the season, dropped a 6-0 third-seeded match to Diego Martinez and Louie Fletcher.  

Every Colonel won at least one game in singles action, and five won six or more. Jett Anderson was the only Centre player to win a set as he fell 4-6, 6-3, 0-1 to Martinez in the no. 6 match. Dethridge won the second most games as he was setback 7-5, 6-3 to Reynolds in the fifth-seeded match. 

Jasper Gazzo won seven games in his losing effort to Fletcher in a 6-3, 6-4 bout. Rueff and Flanery each fell 6-4, 6-2 as Rueff took a loss in no. 1 singles action to Nice and Flanery fell to Wood in the no. 3 match. Ty Bush rounded out the Colonels with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Ramesh in the second-seeded contest. 

WRAPPING UP
Centre is back home for the team's next contest. The University of the Cumberlands travels to Danville on Saturday, March 15 for a 1 p.m. match.
