DANVILLE, Ky.- On Saturday, Centre men's lacrosse hosted Berry for their 2025 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opener. With a dominating 16-8 win over the Vikings, the Colonels improve to 5-4 overall record, 1-0 in the league.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre men's lacrosse dominated from the jump, netting eight before Berry placed one.
Ben Hubbs stuck hot early, possessing a hat-trick ten-minutes in with his own 3-0 run to start the game.
David Caldwell followed Hubbs with three unbroken goals of his own, the last two assisted by Hubbs. Entering the second period, Centre led 6-0.
- Hubbs continued the offensive push into the second frame, scoring the Colonels' seventh unanswered point with his fourth goal of the game.
Ryan Black netted the next with the help of
Max Speers, but Berry answered to end Centre's 26-minute run. By the end of the half, Caldwell scored two more times while the Vikings tallied one additional point. Entering the break, Centre led 10-2.
- The second half was a closer game as both teams scored six points each.
Graysen Jolly opened the half a minute in and Hubbs followed with the help of
Ryan Hall. Berry scored the last two goals of the period to adjust the score to 13-4 entering the final frame.
- Like the first and second quarters, Hubbs scored the first point of the period. Black netted the Colonels' next point that came before and after a pair of goals from Berry.
Noah Malubay entered the scoring column with Centre's 15
th point before Hubbs closed the home team's scoring. The Vikings scored two late goals to set the final score at Centre 16, Berry eight.
INSIDE THE BOX SCOR
- Hubbs led the game in both goals and points. The senior scored seven and helped two.
- Caldwell netted five followed by Black with two.
- Jolly and
Mac Shafer tied for the game's leader in caused turnovers with three each.

Luca Bowling led the game in ground balls with six. The rookie represented Centre at the face-off, winning 17 of 26 attempted.
- In goal,
Devin Melton registered 60-minutes and nine saves. The freshman led the Colonels to 14-18 clears.
- Centre favored 42-22 in ground balls.
