VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Spring break took the Centre men's tennis team to the coastal city of Virginia Beach where the Gold & White fell 6-1 to Virginia Wesleyan.
The loss dropped the Colonels to 4-4, while the Marlins moved to 4-6.
Dylan Dethridge earned the lone point for Centre. The freshman won his singles match 6-4, 6-3 over Carlos R. Zarraga in the fifth slot. He is 6-1 in singles action this season.
Ty Bush and
Jett Anderson each forced a third set. Bush won the first set in the no. 2 match before ultimately falling 7-5, 4-6, 4-6 to Rafael R. Zarraga. Anderson was in action in the sixth-seeded match and won the second set in a match that went 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 to Hovo Madanyan.
Ben Rueff was in the top spot for the Colonels and fell 6-4, 6-0.
Isaac Flanery forced a tiebreaker in the no. 3 match but fell 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to Francis Cabaddu.
Jasper Gazzo was the other solo player for the Gold & White and lost 6-1, 6-3 to Sebastien Muller in the no. 4 match.
The top doubles duo for Centre won to move to 4-2 on the year together. Bush and Rueff took down Muller and Mandanyan 6-3. Dethridge and
Emilo Ventura Ramirez played close in the no. 2 match but were setback 6-4 to the Zarraga duo. Gazzo and
Chase Turley fell 6-2 to Vlad and Freiso Schiphorst in the third-slotted match.

Virginia is the home of the next three matches for the Colonels. The first match of those takes place tomorrow at NCAA Division I Norfolk State. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
