LEXINGTON, Va. - A 6-1 defeat was the result of Centre men's tennis versus the no. 21 ranked Washington and Lee team on Wednesday afternoon.
The loss saw the Colonels record move to 4-6, while the Generals improved to 9-3.
Doubles action is what scored the point for the Centre team.
Dylan Dethridge and
Isaac Flanery won the no. 2 doubles contest. They are a perfect 2-0 and defeated Ryan Good and James Kurani 7-5 on Wednesday.
Jasper Gazzo and
Chase Turley won in the third-seeded duos match. The pair defeated Sahil Arora and Heys Parker 6-2. It was their first win as a duo.
The no. 1 Colonels pair of
Ty Bush and
Ben Rueff fell in a match that went to a tiebreaker. Evan Erb and Will Kistler triumphed in that contest 7-6 (7-2).
Tiebreakers were needed in four different singles matches. Erb defeated Rueff 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 in the top seeded contest. Kistler downed Bush in the no. 2 match by a tally of 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). Dethridge saw a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 setback to Parker in the no. 4 match.
Flanery was part of the only match that went to three sets and fell in that no. 3 singles contest to Kurani 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (10-8).
Gazzo fell 6-0, 6-1 to Arora in the fifth-seeded contest and Anderson fell 6-1, 6-4 to Sanjheev Rao in no. 6 play.
