DANVILLE, Ky. - A close match versus Hendrix to start the 2025 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) campaign for Centre men's tennis saw the Colonels come out on top 4-3.
Centre improved to a season mark of 5-7 and an SAA record of 1-0, while the Warriors fell to 4-7 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Singles play is where the match was won for the Gold & White as the Colonels took wins in each of the back four seeded contests.
Isaac Flanery won the no. 3 matchup 6-3, 6-0 over Carson Cole which brought him back to winning ways.
Jasper Gazzo earned his first win as the fourth seed this year as he took a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Santiago Perez.
The last two seeds went long, as Centre rallied to take the win.
Dylan Dethridge earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Maximillian Henderson in the fifth seeded contest to move his record this season to 8-2.
Jett Anderson went to a third set with Robinson Wright in the no. 6 match and won 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
Ty Bush fell 6-0, 6-1 to Wesley McClure in the top solo contest while
Ben Rueff was setback 6-2, 6-2 to Agustin Kalinowski in the no. 2 match.
Only one of the Colonel duos earned a victory. Dethridge and Flanery improved to a perfect 4-0 in 2025 with a 6-1 triumph over Taegan Terry and Brayden Bolch in the no. 2 match.
Bush and Rueff fell to Kalinowski and McClure 6-0 in the top-ranked doubles contest while
Chase Turley and Gazzo lost 6-1 to Henderson and Wright in the battle of the no. 3 match.
