DANVILLE, Ky. - The first indoor action of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) season saw Centre men's tennis fall 4-2 to Rhodes in a match that ended by decision inside the Seabury Family Tennis Center.
The Colonels record moved to 5-8 with an SAA mark of 1-1, while the Lynx improved to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the SAA.
Isaac Flanery took one of the Gold & White's two wins in the no. 3 singles spot. He bested Paul Fridman 6-3, 1-6, 10-8.
Dylan Dethridge earned the other solo win for Centre. His third-straight win came in the form of a 7-5, 6-0 triumph over Topher Thornberry in no. 4 action.
Jasper Gazzo went to three sets in his 6-2, 0-6, 10-7 loss to Erwann Monnet in the fifth-ranked contest.
The top two seeds fell for the Colonels in solo action.
Ty Bush was setback 7-5, 6-0 to Oliver Bonovich in the top match while
Ben Rueff fell 6-1, 7-5 to Christian Mainella in the second-ranked battle.
Jett Anderson and Owen Kohler played to a 7-5, 1-0 lead for Kohler in the no. 6 contest before the match was called.
In doubles play, a new pairing was the lone winner for the Centre squad in that portion of the action. Gazzo and Anderson teamed up for the first time this season and won the no. 3 doubles match over Kohler and Monnet 6-1.
Bush and Rueff battled hard in the top-doubles match and forced a tiebreaker in a 7-5 (7-4) loss to Mainella and Bonovich. Dethridge and Flanery fell to Fridman and Thornberry 6-4 in the no. 2 doubles match.
