JACKSON, Miss. - The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) season rolled on for Centre men's tennis on Saturday and the squad came out on top of Millsaps 6-1.
The Gold & White sat at 6-8 and 2-1 in the SAA after the win, while the Majors fell to 4-10 overall and 0-3 in the SAA.
Ty Bush and
Ben Rueff won 7-5 over Anderson Dulaney and Sam Tuli in top doubles action.
Jett Anderson and
Jasper Gazzo helped secure the doubles point for Centre with their 6-0 blanking of Sebastian Gonzalez and Sam Willard.
Dylan Dethridge and
Isaac Flanery fell 6-4 to Carson Chassaignac and Brady St. Martin in the no. 2 doubles match
Bush turned around and came out on top in the no. 1 spot in singles play with a 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) win over Dulaney. The no. 2 match was a win by opponent retirement for Rueff, who was leading 5-2 at the time, over Chassaignac.
Two Colonels held their opponents scoreless in at least one set. Dethridge blanked Willard in the second set of the fourth-ranked match to win 6-2, 6-0. Anderson held Caleb Solangi scoreless in the first set of the no. 6 match, which was won 6-0, 6-1 for the Centre representative.
The other two matches were split. Gazzo won 6-4, 6-1 over St. Martin in the fifth-seeded match while Flanery fell 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 0-1 (8-10) to Tuli in the no. 3 match.
