DANVILLE, Ky.- On Saturday, the Centre men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) match-up with Oglethorpe. The Colonels led from the start, trouncing the Stormy Petrels 24-2 with 17 goals scored by their seniors.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Gold & White got out to a dominant start, outscoring the Stormy Petrels 5-1 in the initial 15 minutes of play. All five of the Colonels' first quarter goals came from seniors.
Davis Wilmes initiated the game while
David Caldwell followed 30 seconds later off a feed from
Graysen Jolly.
Max Speers closed Centre's early 3-0 run with the help of
Noah Malubay. Oglethorpe netted their first goal ten minutes in, but the Colonels swiftly answered with a pair back-to-back. Caldwell scored next with the helper from Malubay while Speers closed the period with the assist, again, coming from Malubay.
- Jolly opened the second quarter's scoring and simultaneously kick started a 9-1 scoring run for the Gold & White. By the end of the half,
Jack Cunningham joined the scoring column while Speers and Caldwell secured hat tricks. Entering the break, Centre led 14-2.
- The Colonels controlled the second half, blanking Oglethorpe 10-0 in the final 30 minutes. By the end of regulation
Ryan Hall and
Nico Valentino got on the board as Caldwell and Speers continued their offensive success. More notably, three Colonels scored their first collegiate goals.
Sam Berry netted his with the help of
Kyle Granquist. Seeing action in the field for their senior day, traditional goalies
Ramsay Cole and
Sammy Zickel made a rare appearance in the scoring column, Cole securing a hat-trick and Zickel netting two. At the end of regulation, Centre men's lacrosse downed the Stormy Petrels 24-2, improving to a 4-1 record in the league.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Caldwell led the game in both goals and points. The senior netted six and assisted one for seven total points. Speers followed with four goals while Cole netted three.

Andrew Kahn and
Max Moldenhauer tied for game's leader in caused turnovers with two each.

Grayson Shumate led the game in ground balls with seven.
- The Colonels dominated at the face-off, winning all but one in the entire contest. Together, Shumate,
Caden Canzano, Berry,
Luca Bowling, and
Josh Denny went 26-27.
- In goal, Cole,
Graham Driscoll,
Hayden Burns, and
Devin Melton shared time. Together the unit tallied four saves and led the Colonels to 13-14 clears. The Stormy Petrels went 13-30 on clears.
- Centre favored in shots on goal 50-6, ground balls 50-18, face offs 26-1, and caused turn over 14-8.
- The 24-2 victory over Oglethorpe tied for the Colonels' largest, in conference, win margin which was set in April 2012, coincidentally against the Stormy Petrels where the Colonels won by a score of 24-2.
