DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre men's tennis dropped a close Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest as Oglethorpe bested the Colonels 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The Gold & White fell to 6-9 and 2-2 in the SAA with the loss, and the Stormy Petrels improved to 11-4 and 4-1 in the league.
Centre earned the doubles point with wins in the no. 1 and no. 3 matches.
Ty Bush and
Dylan Dethridge won their second match of the season together with a 6-3 win over Sam Wasko and Jefferson Page in the top match.
Isaac Flanery and
Emerson Dean teamed up for the first time this season to win 6-1 in the third-ranked contest 6-1 over Zack Raymond and Callum Searle.
Ben Rueff and
Chase Turley fell 6-3 to Kellen Simmons and Figge Pernfors in the no. 2 match.
Two Colonels won in singles action. Flanery improved to 3-1 in conference action with a 6-1, 6-3 decision over Page in the third-slotted contest. Dethridge won 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 over Pernfors in the no. 4 match to remain a perfect 4-0 in SAA matches.
Rueff played a close match in the no. 2 slot as he narrowly fell 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 7-5 to Wasko.
Jett Anderson forced some extra tennis in a 6-2, 7-5 setback to Noah George in the no. 6 singles contest.
Ty Bush fell 6-2, 6-3 to Simmons in the top slot and
Jasper Gazzo lost 6-3, 6-4 to Bailey Raymond in the no. 5 contest.
