DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre men's tennis fell to no. 22 Sewanee on Saturday evening to close out the regular season slate of Southern Athletic Association (SAA) action.
The doubles point went the way of the Colonels.
Chase Turley and
Ben Rueff won their second-straight match as a pair with a 7-5 triumph over Gil Weston and Quinn Wicklund in the no. 2 match.
Emerson Dean and
Isaac Flanery also became winners of consecutive matches as they won 6-2 over Josh Lively and William Lewis in the third-seeded bout.
Ty Bush and
Dylan Dethridge fell 7-6 to Jordan Theron and Andre Remi Jakobi in the top-ranked doubles contest.
In singles action, Anderson was the lone Centre player to win a set. He fought to a third set versus Charlie Pizzuti but ultimately fell 7-5, 4-6, 10-5 in the no. 5 set.
Three Colonels won at least four games. Bush went down 6-1, 6-3 to Talman Ramsey in the no. 3 match. Flanery fell 6-4, 6-0 to Max Verellen in the fourth-ranked match.
Jasper Gazzo also won four games, but was setback 6-2, 6-2 to Henry Hyden in the no. 6 match.
Ben Rueff fell 6-2, 6-1 to Theron in the no. 1 match and Dethridge lost 6-1, 6-1 to Jakobi in the no. 2 contest.
UP NEXT
The SAA Tournament is the next challenge for the Centre team. That event runs April 25-27 in North Little Rock, Ark at the Burns Park Tennis Center.
