SEWANEE, Tenn.- On Friday evening, Centre women's lacrosse returned to Tennessee to face Oglethorpe in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Quarterfinals. The Colonels' slow start cost them, falling by a score of 20-9 to close their 2025 campaign.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Stormy Petrels jumped out to an early lead, scoring three goals before the Colonels placed their first.
Addie Lewis put Centre on the board during a woman up goal followed by
Gracie Garner less than a minute later. Oglethorpe answered with a quad of unanswered goals to take a 9-2 lead entering the second frame.
- The Stormy Petrels continued their run into period two, netting five successive goals before
Haley Rice halted the run. Both teams scored one more time before half, Garner owning the Colonels' point to move the score to 13-4 entering the break.
- In the third quarter, Oglethorpe favored 4-3. Garner secured a hat-trick with the Colonels' first goal of the half while
Sophia Richardson joined the scoring column with their second. Rice closed the period with a woman-down goal in the final two minutes of the frame, bring the score to 17-7 entering the last 15-minutes of play.
- Oglethorpe opened the fourth quarter with two goals back-to-back but were answered by
Catherine Zeek. Each team tallied one more point before the end of regulation, Garner closing the game with a woman-up goal to set the final score at Oglethorpe 20, Centre nine.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Garner led the Colonels in goals with four. Rice followed with two while Zeek, Lewis, and Richardson tallied one apiece.
- In goal,
Mary Haley and
Olivia Vigue split time. Together the pair tallied nine saves and led the team to 13-19 clears. Haley led the team in ground balls with four.

Olivia Sweasy, Richardson, and Rice tied for the game's leader in caused turnovers with two each.
- Rice fronted the team in draw controls with five.
