MEMPHIS, Tenn.- On Sunday afternoon, Centre men's lacrosse faced off against Rhodes in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest. After a slow first quarter, the Colonels suffered an 11-9 loss to the Lynx, moving to 3-1 in the league.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Lynx jumped out to a big lead, scoring four unanswered goals before the Colonels tallied their first in
Ryan Black. With Black's goal being Centre's only point in the first 15 minutes of play, Rhodes led 4-1 entering period two.
-The Colonels wasted no time, opening the second quarter with a pair of goals less than a minute apart,
Ryan Hall scored the first followed by Black. The Lynx scored the next point which would be their only goal of the period. With two minutes to go in the half,
David Caldwell netted a man-up goal off a feed from
Graysen Jolly, bringing the Colonels within one entering halftime.
- Jolly rolled the crease to initiate the second half and tie the game up at 5-5. Less than a minute later, the Lynx regained the lead and midway through the frame, stretched it to two. With four minutes to go in the third, Jolly set up Black for Centre's sixth point but the Lynx answered moments later. With 20 seconds to go,
Patrick Tatro forced a turnover to give the Colonels possession. With a successful clear, Black found
Holden Techet in front of crease for a buzzer beating goal, cutting the deficit to 8-7 entering the final frame.
- Black tied the game at 8-8 with a behind the back goal 90 seconds into the fourth but Rhodes answered with two successive points.
Noah Malubay set up Black for the next goal, but the Lynx again answered to resecure their two-point hold. With the remainder of the game being scoreless, the final was set at 11-9, the Lynx favoring.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Black led the field in goals with a season high of five. Jolly, Techet, Caldwell, and Hall scored once.
- Jolly tied for the game's leader in assists with two.

Mac Shafer led the Colonels in ground balls with five.
- In goal,
Hayden Burns and
Sammy Zickel split time. Together the two tallied 15 saves.
