NEW ORLEANS - Earlier this week the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its first preseason regional rankings of the 2025 season and both Centre cross country teams are ranked in the Great Lakes Region top ten, with the men's team at no. 8 and the women's team at no. 9.
Both Centre cross country teams finished the 2024 season ranked no. 14 in the Great Lakes Region according to the USTFCCCA, and among the teams in the regional top ten, no team made a higher leap in the rankings from the end of 2024 to preseason 2025 on either the men's or women's side than the Colonels, who moved a respective six and five spots in the polls.
The Centre women were picked to finish second in the Southern Athletic Association by the league's coaches in this year's preseason poll, while the men's team was projected third in the conference.
The 2025 Centre cross country season will begin on Aug. 29 with the BC/CC Jamboree at Berea.
