After three straight dramatic draws, Centre Men's Soccer was finally able to control a match from start to finish in a strong 3-0 win over Warren Wilson, the first of 2025.
Tyler Smith just missed on a scoring chance in the 7th minute as Centre put the pressure on early.
Declan Miller got the start in goal for the Colonels and made his first save in the 14th minute.
Ryan O'Hara followed moments later with 2 chances in the box but could not find an angle to the net.
Finnegan Deem-Ranzetta added chances in the 25th and 27th minutes that also nearly gave the Colonels the lead. The pressure continued and paid off in the 35th minute as
Tyler Smith was able to find space and slip a shot by the Warren Wilson keeper to break the tie.
Amit Shahar had 2 late chances in the half but was turned away on both as Centre took the 1-0 lead to the break.
The Colonels doubled their lead in the 56th minute as
Ryan O'Hara set up
Will Sweet for a slick goal and a 2-0 lead. Centre kept the pressure going and would go up a man as Warren Wilson was called for a straight red card in the 71st minute. Centre needed less than 3 minutes to take advantage of Warren Wilson being down to 10 men.
Luca Andrews tucked home a pass from
Jason Weisheit for a 3-0 lead. From there, the Colonels shut down the opposing attack to lock up the win.
Centre will look for a 2nd straight win on Friday as the Colonels travel to DePauw. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm in Greencastle, IN.
