SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Centre volleyball team faced its second ranked opponent in the last 24 hours as they battled the 15th ranked Berry Vikings to close out the Trinity SAA volleyball round robin. The Colonels dropped this one in straight sets, falling to 7-5 on the year.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels got off to a fine start in the opening set, taking an 11-5 lead following kills by
Elise Grundy and
Hollye Tate. Berry then responded with a 10-1 run to take the lead for good, keeping Centre at bay the rest of the way and winning 25-19.
- The Vikings jumped out to a 13-5 lead in the second set and eventually led by as many as 12 points before holding off a late charge from the Colonels and winning by a score of 25-18.
- In the third set, Berry scored the first seven points of the frame and carried the momentum for the entire set as they won the match with a 25-15 victory.
NEXT UP
The Colonels will play in another SAA round robin on Sept. 27-28, this time traveling to Berry. Saturday's games will be against Millsaps and Oglethorpe.
