SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Centre men's basketball had to battle from behind for most of the second half in their battle against the Trinity Tigers. The Colonels cut an 18-point deficit to four but could not get over the hump as they lost 96-90.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre quickly got off to an early 8-2 lead as
Landen Hamilton got inside to score and
Kalib Thomas and
Nolan Wahl each connected from long distance.
- The Colonels and Tigers traded the lead over the next few minutes and
Graham Krezmien tipped in a Centre miss to give the Colonels a 15-14 lead with just over five minutes gone by.
- Trinity gradually began to extend their lead for the rest of the first half and would lead by as many as 17 points in the final minute before
Drake Ingram was fouled in the act of shooting a three and made all three free throws to make it a 49-35 Trinity lead at the break. Ingram scored Centre's final nine points of the first half.
- The Tigers maintained the double-digit lead for a majority of the second half, but Centre began chipping away around the halfway point thanks to another strong performance on the glass. A layup from Thomas made it 70-62 to get it under single digits for the first time in the half.
- The Colonels eventually cut the deficit to four after a three-pointer from Ingram and free throws from Wahl, but Trinity had an answer each time as the Tigers shot well from the free throw line all night long, making 14 of their final 15 to secure the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ingram's 27 points off the bench were game high. Thomas added 20 points and Wahl recorded a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.
- The Colonels nearly doubled up the Tigers on offensive rebounds with 25 and enjoyed a 27-15 advantage in second chance points.

The Colonels will return home for the next weekend of games, beginning with a rematch against Southwestern on Jan. 30.
