Sewanee, TN——— Centre opens the new year and conference play with an 87-61 win over Sewanee
Centre opened with strong defensive play, using early steals and rebounds to set up scores from Reid, Nipp, and Jessie, building a 12-5 lead. Sewanee generated opportunities through steals and offensive rebounds but struggled to convert, missing several free throws and jump shots.
Arin Nipp's offensive rebounds provided Centre with additional possessions and second-chance points as the quarter progressed. Centre finished the quarter with an 11-point lead, supported by defensive pressure, rebounding, and efficient scoring.
Sewanee opened the second quarter strongly, steadily reducing Centre's lead with aggressive defense and forced turnovers. Both teams traded baskets throughout the quarter, with momentum shifting frequently.
