Colonels with a Major Comeback Win

Danville, KY------- Centre pull off the biggest Comeback Win off the year with a 72-70 Victory over Millsaps

Millsaps and Centre exchanged momentum in a fast-paced opening quarter with several lead changes and effective perimeter shooting. Tia Anderson led early for Millsaps with two three-pointers, while Garin Freeman contributed multiple assists and a three-pointer.

Centre answered with balanced scoring from Lilly Reid, Claire Russell, and KaNiah Edelen, capitalizing on second-chance points and strong rebounding. Both teams forced turnovers and maintained a fast tempo, leading to frequent shifts in control.

Centre secured a late basket to take a narrow lead into the second quarter, concluding a balanced first period defined by defensive intensity and timely shooting from both teams.

Millsaps built early momentum in the second quarter with hustle and pressure defense, led by Elyse Warren's rebounding and inside scoring. Warren created extra possessions with offensive rebounds and finishes at the rim, helping Millsaps establish a small lead. Tia Anderson added a key three-pointer midway through the quarter, and Garin Freeman contributed assists and points to keep the Majors ahead.

Centre stayed close as Lilly Reid scored at all three levels and Isabelle Combs brought energy in the paint. The quarter featured multiple ties as both teams traded stops, forced turnovers, and battled for rebounds.

In the final minute, Centre tied the game with a three-pointer and a free throw, but a layup from Elyse Warren gave Millsaps a narrow halftime lead after another competitive, physical quarter marked by strong rebounding.

Millsaps started the second half with aggressive defense and efficient shooting, creating separation in the third quarter. Tia Anderson led, scoring at all three levels with layups and timely three-pointers, while Garin Freeman controlled the tempo and finished in transition.
Centre answered with a strong stretch from Lilly Reid, who sparked a brief run with consecutive steals and scores to reduce the deficit. Lindsay Jessie and Lola Fouts added key baskets as Centre worked to regain momentum.

Each time Centre threatened, Millsaps responded. Bailey Johnson and Maddy Maw hit perimeter shots, and Elyse Warren controlled the boards to limit second chances. By quarter's end, Millsaps had increased its lead and entered the fourth with momentum.

Fourth Quarter seemed to be favored in Millsaps, with the Majors extending the lead with free throws from Freeman and layups by Lewix, but Centre answered every step of the way with baskets from KaNaih Edelen, Ryleigh Campbell, and Tessa Miles.

Momentum shifted with only two minutes to go in the game, when Freeman for Millsaps fouled out, Centre down by 9, starting to rally back with steals by Lilly Reid, Trinity Armour, and Tessa Miles,  Free throws by Edelen, Reid, and the layup from Armour ties the game at 70-70 with a minute and twenty-three seconds left.

A costly foul by Millsaps' head coach sent Lilly Reid to the line to take the lead 72-70 with a little over a minute remaining. The Colonels shifted to defensive pressure, as a steal from Clarie Russell and a missed three-pointer by Maddy Maw of the Majors. Secured the  72-70 victory for Centre as they managed to come back from down 15 points with five minutes left.
