DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's basketball played its most complete game of the season as the Colonels snapped a two-game skid on a night where everything clicked, defeating the Millsaps Majors by a score of 94-65.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels got off to a slow start for the second straight game, digging an early 9-2 hole before rallying back with eight straight points following threes from
Nolan Wahl and
Ryan Shene and a runout layup from
Kalib Thomas.
- The bench provided a lift for the offense as a dunk from
Garrison Hildebrant was sandwiched between two
Drake Ingram buckets to put Centre up 17-12.
- After Millsaps pounded the ball inside for three straight baskets to regain the lead, Centre made its first big push.
Graham Krezmien scored inside twice and Thomas contributed five quick points for a 9-0 run. The Colonels continued shooting lights out from long range as Shene and
Hunter Coleman connected on triples to put Centre up by double digits for the first time at 34-24.
- Both teams traded baskets over the next four minutes before Thomas and Shene delivered consecutive threes to give Centre a 47-33 lead at the break.
- The Colonels picked up where they left off in the first half as Shene scored the first two baskets of the second half to put Centre up by 18.
- A pair of threes in transition by Wahl and six straight points by Ingram effectively put the game away as the two sophomores combined for a 12-0 run that give Centre a 63-36 lead.
- The lead reached as many as 35 points as Coleman and Krezmien continued to play well off the bench, carrying the scoring load while the starters sat.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Five Centre players scored in double figures, led by Wahl and Ingram with 17 each. Coleman scored a career high 16 points off the bench.
- Izaiyah Villafuerte had a tremendous impact on the game without scoring a point, dishing out a career high 13 assists in the win. The Colonels assisted on 27 of their 37 made baskets for the night, also a season high, while turning the ball over just seven times.
