DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre started six freshman for the second straight game, hoping the youthful spark would challenge Trinity. It was not to be on a rainy Sunday in Danville as the Tigers controlled the day from the start en route to a 4-0 win over the Colonels.
Centre had its best chance of the day in the opening seconds as
Chandler Hamilton caused a turnover deep in the Trinity half. His shot on goal from 20 yards out, however, curled wide left of the goal. From there, Trinity began to assert itself. The Tigers played keep away for much of the day, en route to a 63% possession rate at game's end.
Declan Miller made 3 stops from the 13th to the 18th minutes to keep the game scoreless early on. The pressure would begin to prove too much as the Tigers broke through in the 24th minute to grab the lead.
Ryan O'Hara had a moment in the 31st minute as he split through two defenders charging towards the Trinity goal. He went for a chip over the keeper, but the ball sailed over everything, including the crossbar. The Colonel defense tightened up and denied the Tigers much else in the half as Centre clung to a 1-goal deficit going to the second half.
The Colonels made a keeper change at the half as
Grayson Parish came on for the first time all season. In the 63rd minute, he let a ball slip right through his mitts off the wet Amend Field grass and into the net for a 2-0 Trinity lead. The Tigers added 2 more goals in the 72nd and 84th minutes for the end result.
The Colonels' struggling offense never managed a shot on goal the entire game and conceded 15 corners to Trinity in the loss.
Centre stays home in search of its first SAA win on Friday night when Maryville comes to town. Kickoff is set for 8:30pm.
