MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Men's Soccer fell in the 2026 SAA opener by a 3-1 result at Berry on Friday night.
The night looked promising early on as Centre garnered the first shot of the game.
Kai Forsythe had a try in the 4th minute but was turned aside. Berry countered with tries in the 16th and 20th minutes with
Declan Miller on the spot for each save to keep the game scoreless. Berry's next threat came in the 38th minute. A shot was saved by Miller, but the Colonels could not clear the ball out. Just 27 seconds later, the Vikings were able to slot a ball past Miller to grab a 1-0 lead and take it to halftime.
Centre needed little time in the second half to equalize. Just 1:49 into the half,
Carter Sipes buried his first goal of the season to bring the Colonels level with the Vikings at 1. Forsythe had a shot at the go-ahead tally in the 52nd minute but was again denied.
Declan Miller then made 2 saves in the 52nd and 55th minutes to deny Berry the lead. The Vikings would continue to mount pressure and were rewarded with goals in the 75th and 86th minutes to salt the game away. Centre's offense could not muster an answer as Berry took the night.
Declan Miller stopped 7 shots in the loss, while the offense was only able to muster 3 shots on target on the night. The Colonels will look for a weekend split in Georgia on Sunday. Centre takes on Oglethorpe starting at 2:00pm.
