ATLANTA - On Tuesday afternoon the Southern Athletic Association released its weekly awards for track & field and Centre earned three of them, with
Cree Ross winning Men's Field Athlete of the Week and
Chloe Hein sweeping both awards on the women's side.
Ross recorded a seasonal best mark for Centre men's track & field in the triple jump this weekend at the Centre Indoor Invitational. Ross posted a mark of 48-2.5 (14.69m), which was the second best indoor triple jump of his career, trailing only his All-American mark from last season's NCAA Championships. Ross currently ranks at the top of the SAA standings in both the long jump and triple jump.
Â
Chloe Hein made history for the fourth time in as many meets this season with her long jump performance at the Centre Indoor Invite. Hein posted a mark of 20-9.75 (6.34m) to once again destroy her previous school record. Already leading the country in the event, Hein's mark this weekend was the second best long jump in the history of Division III women's track & field. At the same meet Hein set another school record on the track. Racing in the 200m, the five-time All-American posted a time of 24.60 (converted from 24.98 for track size) to finish 0.01 seconds faster than the program record time set in 2025 by All-American
Madjo Doumbia. Hein currently leads the SAA in both the 60m and 200m to go along with leading all of Division III in the long jump.
Centre track & field will return to action on Feb. 21 with the Wittenberg Indoor Invite.
