ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association released its weekly awards for track & field, and Centre junior Carter Russell was named Men's Track Athlete of the Week after a record-setting performance.

On Saturday at the Steemer Indoor Showcase in Ohio, Russell made his 2026 track debut and set a new school record in the men's 800m, crossing the finish line in 1:56.18, surpassing the previous school record mark he set as a freshman in 2024. At the same meet he ran the mile in 4:27.61.

Centre men's track & field will have a week off before returning on Feb. 13-14 for the Centre Indoor Invite and Multis.
