Danville, KY - After a grueling 5-plus hour match against Kenyon on Friday night, Centre Men's Tennis returned to the court late Saturday morning for a matchup against Washington & Lee. The Colonels ultimately came up short, 5-2.
Centre got off to a good start in doubles as the top tandem of
Ty Bush and
Dylan Dethridge cruised to a 6-3 win. Second and third doubles had a tougher go.
Ben Rueff and
Tejas Ahuja dropped #2 doubles, 3-6. Third doubles also went to W&L, 6-2, to clinch the team point.
In singles,
Ty Bush moved up to the #1 match. It was tight throughout, but Bush would lose the match, 5-7, 6-7 (1).
Dylan Dethridge moved to 2nd singles on this day and had zero issues with his opponent. Dethridge quickly picked up a point for the Colonels via a 6-1, 6-2 win.
Ben Rueff also won in straight sets in #3 singles, 6-4, 6-3, to level the overall day at 2-each.
The momentum ended there for the Colonels as Washington & Lee took control in the final 3 singles matches.
Tejas Ahuja dropped #4 singles, 1-6, 4-6.
Anderson Gosnell got in the action in fifth singles but was beaten, 0-6, 1-6, thus clinching the overall win for W&L.
William Howell also fell in #6 singles, 0-6, 3-6.
The schedule gets no easier for the Colonels as they now get set to travel to #1 Denison next Saturday, starting at 3:00pm.
