Danville, KY - Centre Men's Tennis fell in a tightly-contested matchup against DePauw, 4-3, on Sunday at the Centre Tennis Courts.
DePauw grabbed the early advantage in a 6-1 win over Centre's #3 doubles team of
William Howell and Issac Flanery. The Tigers clinched the team point in second singles with a 6-1 win over the tandem of
Ben Rueff and
Jack Gessner.
Ty Bush and
Dylan Dethridge did win #1 singles, 7-5, but DePauw still took the team point.
Isaac Flanery bounced back in #4 singles with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win to get Centre on the board.
Ty Bush was next in the win column as he took #1 singles 6-2, 0-6, 1-0 (10-6) to put Centre up, 2-1, overall.
DePauw leveled the day in a win in #3 singles as
Ben Rueff fell, 3-6, 3-6.
Jack Gessner was in #5 singles and put up a strong fight but fell, 4-6, 5-7, to give DePauw a 3-2 lead. The Tigers clinched the win in #2 singles as
Dylan Dethridge fell 6-7 (6-8), 1-6.
Chase Turley gave Centre its 3rd point of the day in #6 singles with a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) triumph.
Centre stays home this week and is back in action on Wednesday afternoon to take on Northern Kentucky University at 1:00pm.
