Danville, KY - After a tough trip to #1 Denison on Saturday, where the Colonels were playing shorthanded, Centre Men's Tennis returned home on Wednesday against Asbury. The Colonels were back in full force against the Eagles and showed it with a 5-2 win to get back to .500 on the season.
The Colonels set the tone in doubles as the top tandem of
Ty Bush and
Dylan Dethridge were back together and flexed with a 6-3 win.
Jack Gessner and
Ben Rueff were up next and locked down the team point with a 6-2 win. For good measure, Centre's 3rd doubles team of
William Howell and
Chase Turley also won 6-2 for the clean doubles sweep.
Ty Bush carried the momentum right into #1 singles as he cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win.
Ben Rueff was right in step with a 6-3, 6-3 win in #2 singles to give the Colonels a 3-0 lead on the night.
Jack Gessner suffered the Colonels' 1st loss in a 3rd set tiebreak in 3rd singles.
William Howell also fell in 4th singles as Asbury climbed back within 3-2 overall.
Chase Turley needed a tiebreak in #5 singles but was able to prevail to secure the 4th point and the team win. Emilio Ventura Ramirez made sure of the win in #6 singles via a 6-4, 6-4 win.
The Colonels are back home this Sunday morning to take on the University of Olivet starting at 10:00am.
