Box Score Columbus, OH - The Colonels went on the road to Capital University in Columbus, OH, and came home with a win, winning 11 – 6 over the Comets.
Centre offensive strikes first in the opening period, with
Graysen Jolly to get the scoring started. Less than two minutes later,
Ben Hubbs scores to extend the lead 2-0 midway through.
Comets responded late in the period with a couple of goals by Charlie Howenstine, first off, an assist from Elliott Rhoton, and then again with help from Braylon Dawson to send the score into a tie.
Colonels didn't take long to respond, with
Nico Valentino getting one in the back of the net to put Centre back in the lead.
Both sides seem to be able to create several chances, including multiple shots hitting the post, while goalies
Hayden Burns and Wyatt Stemler made key saves.
Capital headed into with a man-up opportunity following a late cross-check penalty on Centre with 33 seconds left in the first period.
After killing off Capital's man-up opportunity, which carried over from the first quarter, Colonel's offense gained momentum and capitalized when
Ben Hubbs scored off an assist from
Graysen Jolly. While their defense stood strong, goalie
Hayden Burns turned away several Comet attempts.

start of the second half, Capital struck early with a goal from Colton Woods to cut the deficit to two; however, it didn't take long for Centre to respond as
Thomas Tyack finished a goal off an assist from
Ryan Black.
Colonels kept the pressure on the offense side as
Ryan Black extended the lead to 7-3 with a goal assisted by Jack Cunninghs.
Capital was able to answer midway through the quarter when Evan Legner scored off a feed from Charlie Howenstine, but Centre was always there with a response as
Miguel Sayers got one in off an assist from
Miller Mouser.
The quarter closes with a late goal from Comet Howenstine, assisted by Braden Flint. Still, strong defensive play and several saves from
Hayden Burns helped Centre maintain 8-5 advantage heading into the final period.
start of the final period, Capital briefly cut into the lead when Jess Lipp scored to make it 8-6, but midway through the period, Centre's
Eli Carberry scored to restore the three-goal cushion.
It doesn't end there, as
Thomas Tyack capitalized on a man-up goal assisted by Carberry to extend the lead out to four. Centre seemed to be in control, keeping a dominant energy as
Nick Witcher added another goal to put the game out of reach.
Hayden Burns made several saves down the stretch to stop capitals comeback attempts as Centre's offense was able to maintain a massive offensive pressure to finish the game with an 11-6 win.
