LEXINGTON, Ky. - On Tuesday afternoon the American Volleyball Coaches Association released its weekly Division III poll and Centre made its season debut on the poll with a no. 20 national ranking.
The undefeated Colonels, who were near the top of the list of teams receiving votes on the Sept. 8 poll, picked up victories over no. 3 Illinois Wesleyan and reigning HCAC champion Earlham at the Bill Brandes Memorial Tournament, hosted by Earlham on the weekend. The win over Illinois Wesleyan matched the highest ranked victory in Centre volleyball history, tied with Centre's win over no. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Los Angeles in 2024.
It is the third time that Centre volleyball has reached the AVCA top 25 and the first time since the historic 2024 campaign that saw the Colonels win the Southern Athletic Association regular season championship and reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Centre volleyball will return to action later tonight with a rivalry matchup on the road against Transylvania at 7 PM.
