Danville, Ky. - Centre's trip to St. Louis proved to be a tough one as WashU handed the Colonels a 3-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon.
Centre's offense mustered little on the day.
Chandler Hamilton's strike in the 14th minute was the only official shot on goal on the day. The lone other attempt came from the boot of
Nico Voight in the 39th minute, but the shot was wide left of goal.
WashU had the decided advantage in shot attempts all day long. It first paid off with a tally in the 38th minute with the goal that proved the winner. The Bears doubled their lead in the final seconds before the half. Off a corner, the Colonels inadvertently deflected the ball into their own goal, delivering a crushing blow and giving WashU a 2-0 lead at the break.
The story proved the similar in the second half. Centre's offense was quiet, while WashU was able to keep pressure on. The Bears added a 3rd goal in the 75th minute for the final result.
Despite the loss,
Declan Miller finished the day with 7 saves.
The Colonels now turn their focus to SAA play, starting with a trip to Georgia and a battle at Berry on Friday, October 2nd, starting at 7:30pm.
