DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre women's tennis fell 6-1 in the Seabury Family Tennis Center to Campbellsville University on Sunday afternoon.

Division III schools are playing the 2024-25 season under the 7-point dual match format. The ITA and the NCAA announced the one-year, joint pilot of the scoring format in July of 2024.

In doubles play, the Colonels earned one win. Grace Williams and Carlie Mitchell won 7-6 over Andrea Ovejero and Valentina Curli in a no. 2 doubles match that featured a tiebreaker. It was the first pairing of Williams and Mitchell this season.

The other two doubles matches went the way of the Tigers. Kennedy Herring and Natalie Black won four games in a 6-4 setback to Oriana Espinoza and Andrea Pulido in the no. 1 slot. Kayla Harger and Skylar Keesee fell 6-1 in the third-ranked set to Clara Asprella and Juanita Quintero.

One singles match was won for Centre. Williams went to three sets in order to dispatch Jimena Palomo by a scoreline of 3-6, 6-4, 11-9. The junior is a perfect 2-0 in the no. 2 spot to start the spring season.

Herring tallied the next most game wins for the Colonels in singles play. She won eight contests in a 6-4, 6-4 setback to Asprella in the no. 3 match. Mitchell won four games in her first set and three in her next as she fell as the top seeded contest to Espinoza. Carrie Foster, who played as the no. 4 seed, and Harger, the no. 5 seed, each fell 6-1, 6-2 to their respective opponents. Gigi Gossett finished her no. 6 match on the wrong side of 6-3, 6-2.
