DANVILLE, Ky.- On Thursday evening, the Centre women's lacrosse team hosted Franklin in a non-conference game under the lights. Taking the early lead, the Colonels possessed 12 different scorers in their 20-2 victory over the Grizzlies.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels had the upper hand from the start, rattling off five goals before the Grizzlies placed their first.
Catherine Zeek opened the run followed by
Haley Rice,
Audrey Haines,
Addie Lewis, and
Olivia Sweasy. Centre answered Franklin's singular goal with four more as
Ellie Macdonald and
Gracie Garner joined the scoring column while Rice claimed the hat trick. Entering the second period, the Colonels led 9-1.
- Lewis sent the game into running clock with the first two scores of the second frame, simultaneously joining Rice with a hat-trick.
Colleen Stahl,
Isa Stumpf, and Macdonald claimed the next three goals, closing the half's scoring with the score reading Centre 14, Franklin one.
- Opening the second half, the Colonels tallied a trio of unanswered goals before the Grizzlies closed the period with their second, and last goal of the game. Entering the final quarter the Gold & White possessed a 16-point lead.
- Centre blanked their opponents 3-0 in the final 15-minutes of play. By the end of the contest, two Colonels scored their first collegiate goals,
Mary Sterling Anderton and
Chrissy Krncevic. When the clock ran out, Centre women's lacrosse won by a score of 20-2, improving to a 1-2 record.
