DANVILLE, Ky.- On Thursday evening, Women's lacrosse returned to South Turf to host Lake Forest under the lights. Although a tight three quarters, the Foresters' fourth period scoring surge surpassed the Colonels, offering an 18-11 loss.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Foresters opened the game's scoring, but
Ellie Macdonald answered three minutes later with a free-position to even the score. Lake Forest rattled off three consecutive points before Centre's
Audrey Haines ended the period with an unassisted goal.
- The momentum began to swing in the Colonels' direction as Centre outscored their opponents 4-2 in the frame.
Haley Rice spotted
Gracie Garner in front of the crease to answer the Foresters' quarter opening goal.
Sophia Richardson netted the next, taking advantage of a woman-up situation to bring the Colonels within one. Lake Forest tallied the next goal but quickly fell into foul trouble again. In the final three minutes of the half,
Addie Lewis and Haines scored two successive woman-up goals to make it a tied game at 6-6 entering the break.
- Out of halftime the teams traded points, the Foresters scoring the first on the arc, Richardson answering off a rebound from her own shot. Lake Forest tallied two unbroken points but again, the Colonels would answer. Lewis and Haines both scored before the end of the period, leaving the score tied at 9-9 entering the final 15-minutes.
- The Foresters separated themselves in the fourth period, outscoring the Colonels 9-2.
Isa Stumpf broke up the Foresters 9-1 run before Richardson closed the game on the arc with a woman-up goal. At the end of regulation, the score was set at Lake Forest 18, Centre 11.
