DANVILLE, Ky. - On a rainy day in Danville, the Centre College women's tennis team took to the indoor courts of the Seabury Family Tennis Center and fell 7-0 to the University of the Cumberlands.
The Colonels fell to 5-2 while the Patriots, who are ranked 19th in the NAIA, moved to 8-4.
The lone winner for the Gold and White was the no. 2 doubles team.
Carlie Mitchell and
Grace Williams, who are a perfect 5-0 in 2025, dispatched Skye Maclean and Eva Cancarevic by a tally of 6-4.
Cumberlands still earned the doubles point as Centre representatives
Kennedy Herring and
Natalie Black fell 6-3 in the top ranked match to Victoria Zarate and Karen Kondo and
Sara Dunn and
Sophie Maddux fell 6-2 in the no. 3 match to Marina Nagai and Rion Yanuma.
Carrie Foster won the most games of any Gold & White singles player. The freshman fell 6-4, 6-4 to Yanuma in the fifth-seeded contest. Black won the next most games in her 6-4, 6-3 setback to Liu YuFang in the no. 4 match.
Williams and Mitchell each won three games in their singles action. Williams fell 6-2, 6-1 to Kondo in the top spot and Mitchell was setback 6-0, 6-3 to Nagai in the no. 2 match.
Two Colonels won two games each in Herring and
Kayla Harger. Herring fell 6-1, 6-1 to Zarate in no. 3 play and Harger was stopped 6-0, 6-2 by Bryndis Rosa in the lowest seeded match.

A seventh-straight match versus a Kentucky institution awaits the Centre team. Berea College will be in Danville on Wednesday, March 19 for a 4:30 p.m. match.
