DANVILLE, Ky.- On Saturday morning, Centre women's lacrosse returned to South Turf to open their conference season with Hendrix. Achieving running clock by the second half, the Colonels improve to a 1-0 mark in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) with their 15-4 victory over the Warriors.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre women's lacrosse dominated from the start, blanking the Warriors 5-0 in the initial 15-minutes of play.
Ellie Macdonald got the game going five minutes in. Centre continued their offensive push with three unanswered goals in a matter of 90-seconds.
Catherine Zeek scored the first after causing a turnover.
Gracie Garner tallied the next with the assist from
Haley Rice. Rice found the back of the net next before Macdonald closed the first-quarter's scoring with a woman-up goal assisted by Garner.
- The Warriors opened the second period with their first goal of the contest, but the Colonels answered with another 5-0 run. Garner kick-started the tear with the help of
Isa Stumpf. Rice followed with her second point and by the end of the first-half,
Olivia Sweasy and
Chrissy Krncevic joined the scoring column. Entering the break, Centre held a nine-point advantage.
- Out of halftime,
Colleen Stahl took the game into running clock with the Colonels' 11
th goal. Macdonald was responsible for the other two points scored in the period, the first being a woman-up goal. Blanking the Warriors 3-0 in the period, the score read 13-1 entering the final frame.
- Hendrix outscored Centre in the fourth period 3-2. By the end of the contest,
Addie Lewis and
Megan Gilmour found the back of cage, and when regulation ran out, the Colonels won 15-4.
INSIDE THE BOX SCOR
- Macdonald led the game in goals with a career high of four. She and Rice tied for the game's leader in points with four each.
- Stumpf led the field in assists with three.
- Stahl tied for the game's leader in groundballs with four.

Carter David led the contest in caused turnovers with three.
- In goal,
Olivia Vigue got her first collegiate start. In her 60 minutes, the rookie saved four and led the Colonels to 16-19 clears.
