WESTERVILLE, Ohio- On Monday evening, the Centre women's lacrosse team opened their spring break with a trip to Ohio. Taking on the Otterbein Cardinals, the Colonels dominated their opponent, winning by a score of 18-11.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre got off to a hasty start, opening with three unbroken goals from three different Colonels.
Catherine Zeek initiated the game with an unassisted goal, followed by
Addie Lewis.
Audrey Haines netted Centre's third point before the Cardinals burned a timeout to slow the Gold & White's momentum. Proving successful, Otterbein rattled off two goals to come with in one. Centre hit back with a pair of points,
Haley Rice from
Ellie Macdonald then Macdonald from Zeek. Otterbein managed one additional goal before quarter's end, moving the score to 5-3, Centre leading.
- The second period was a back-and-forth affair, Otterbein favoring early but never able to take the lead. The Cardinals opened with a 3-1 run to tie the game at 6-6 but the Colonels answered with a pair. Rice found the back of the net first followed by Haines to close the half's scoring. With both teams netting three in the period, Centre entered the break with a two-point edge.
- After a scoreless six minutes into the second half, Haines claimed a hat-trick with the period's first goal. Less than 20 seconds later, the Cardinals answered. Macdonald was the next to find the back of the net with help of Isa Stump and a minute later, Rice fed Lewis the perfect pass from behind X to further stretch Centre's hold. Otterbein tallied their second point but again, the Colonels would answer with Rice.
Colleen Stahl entered the scoring column with the last goal of the period, moving the score to Centre 13, Otterbein eight.
- Otterbein tallied the first point but Stahl answered and opened a crucial 3-0 scoring run for the Colonels. Lewis and Rice both scored woman-down goals before the Cardinals put an end to Centre's streak. Rice scored before and after Otterbein's final point, the first a free-position and the second assisted by
Sophia Richardson. When regulation ran out, the Colonels won 18-11.

- Rice led the game in both goals and points with seven goals and nine points.
- Lewis and Haines each had hat tricks.
- Lewis and Rice led Centre in draw controls with five apiece.
