ORLANDO, Fla. - An early morning match for Centre College women's tennis team at the USTA National Campus saw the Colonels fall 5-2 to George Fox on Monday.
The Centre record fell to 5-4 after the match and the Bruins moved to 9-4 on the season.
Both points for the Colonels were earned in singles play in the contest with GFU.
Grace Williams won her third game of the season in the top spot as she took Riley Bobkiewicz to the wire in a 2-6, 7-6. 10-8 win.
Carrie Foster got back to her winning ways as she picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win over Cassey Hitch in the fifth-ranked singles match.
Natalie Black took Sophie Denham to three sets but ultimately fell 6-3, 3-6, 10-4 to the Bruin in the no. 4 match.
Kayla Harger also played to a third set before she was sat down 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 by Juhree Kizziar in the sixth-seeded match.
Kennedy Herring fell 6-1, 6-4 to Shanah Denham in the no. 3 contest and
Carlie Mitchell retired from her no. 2 match which gave Kalli Wiker a win.
Williams and Mitchell won the no. 1 doubles match 6-4 over Bobkiewicz and Shanah Denham in the only duos win for the Gold & White in the match. They are an undefeated 7-0 together in 2025.
Foster and Harger were setback 7-6 by Wilker and Arianna Rader in the no. 2 match, while
Skylar Keesee and
Gigi Gossett fell 6-2 to Sophie Denham and Hitch in the no. 3 match.
WRAPPING UP
Just one match is left for Centre on the spring break trip to the USTA National Campus in Orlando. The Colonels take on Luther tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
