DANVILLE, Ky.- On Saturday afternoon, the Centre women's lacrosse team hosted Oglethorpe for their 2025 Senior Day game. After a strong start, the Colonels fended off the Stormy Petrels to win by a score of 13-7, improving to 2-0 in the league.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre set the pace early, going up on the Stormy Petrels 5-2 in the opening 15-minutes. Senior
Isa Stumpf initiated the scoring with the assist of
Ellie Macdonald while simultaneously kick starting a 4-0 tear for the Colonels.
Haley Rice followed less than a minute later with an unassisted goal.
Colleen Stahl netted the next point during a women-up opportunity before
Addie Lewis closed the early run. Oglethorpe answered with a pair successively before
Sophia Richardson closed the first period's scoring to move the score to Centre five, Oglethorpe two.
- The Colonels continued to control the game throughout the second quarter. The Stormy Petrels claimed the first point but fell silent for the remainder of the half as Centre's seniors continued to add to the scoreboard. Before the end of the period, Rice netted two while Stumpf placed one, bringing the score to Centre eight, Oglethorpe three entering halftime.
- Out of the break, both teams matched each other with two points in the third frame.
Richardson found the back of the net first and for the next 11 minutes, most of the action took place in the midfield. With three minutes to go, Rice ended the drought with her 200
th career goal. The Stormy Petrels answered with a pair back-to-back to make it 10-5 entering the final period.
- Oglethorpe tallied a point before and after a woman-up goal from Lewis.
Chrissy Krncevic entered the scoring column next and with just five seconds to go in regulation, Macdonald found the back of cage with the feed from
Gracie Garner. When regulation ran out, the score was set at 13-7, Centre favoring.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Rice led Centre in goals with four. Lewis, Richardson, and Stumpf each scored twice.

Carter David led the game in ground balls with five.

Elizabeth Mitchell led the field in draw controls with five.
- In goal,
Mary Haley saved 12 and led the Colonels to 16-20 clears.
