DANVILLE, Ky. - The second Southern Athletic Association (SAA) match in as many days for the Centre women's tennis team ended in a 4-1 win for Rhodes in a match played to decision.
The Gold & White squad have an even 6-6 overall record and 1-1 SAA mark after the setback. The Lynx team moved to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in league play with the win.
Centre's point was scored by
Kennedy Herring. She took Zainab Baba to three sets and won 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the no. 3 singles match.
Three other singles matches finished before the contest was finalized.
Natalie Black fought to a third set after going down in the first of the fourth-seeded match, but Lilly Higgins ultimately won 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
Carlie Mitchell fell to Mary Gracie Rask in the top-ranked match 6-1, 6-1 and
Grace Williams dropped the no. 2 matchup to Emma McHale 6-4, 7-5.
Carrie Foster was down 6-1, 1-0 in the no. 5 match to Sofia Rodriguez and
Sara Dunn was up 1-0 on Taylor Nash in the sixth-seeded contest when the match was called.
One doubles match went the way of the Colonels. Williams and Mitchell improved to 9-0 in 2025 with a 6-1 decision over Higgins and Baba in the no. 2 pairing.
Black and Herring fell 6-4 to McHale and Rask in the top doubles match and Foster and
Kayla Harger were setback to Rodriguez and Anna Rush 6-2 in the no. 3 contest.
WRAPPING UP
In less than a week Southern Athletic Association action takes the Centre team to Mississippi. The Colonels will play Millsaps on Saturday, April 5 at 9 a.m.
