DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre softball fell in back-to-back games in a Saturday doubleheader versus Wilmington.
The Quakers won 9-6 in the first game and came out on top 11-2 in the final contest.
GAME ONE: Wilmington 9, Centre 6
- The Quakers scored first and took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first frame
- A
Cheney Floyd single scored the first Colonel run of the game after
Aleiah Branin walked and
Rylee Sandifer also had a single.
- Wilmington tacked on a run in the top of the second. Centre answered back with a run after doubles from
Myah Fletcher and Branin put runners in scoring position and Fletcher came across home on a Sandifer pop up.
- A run from the Quakers in the top of the fourth moved the score to 4-2, but Centre quickly evened things up. With two outs on the board, and
Jada Challiss on base after a single, back-to-back doubles from Branin and Sandifer tied things up a 4-all.
- The visiting team had a strong fifth inning and took the lead again thanks to three runs. Centre cut that lead to just one run in the sixth inning thanks to a
Morgan Tabor two-RBI single. Two more Wilmington runs came across in the seventh and the score sat at 9-6 in favor of the Quakers at the end of the game.
- A total of 13 hits were notched by the Colonels, which is the most in any game this season so far. Those hits were spread across seven batters. Sandifer led Centre with three hits.

Kennedy Caudill pitched all seven innings for the Colonels. She struck out a collegiate career high five batters.
GAME TWO: Wilmington 11, Centre 2
- Centre got off to a strong start in the second game of the twin bill. After a quick lead off out in the bottom of the first, Sandifer singled to the pitcher. Floyd then walked and stole second to put two runners in scoring position. Tabor hit a double to left center field that scored both runners.
- Wilmington tied things up with two doubles in the top of the third frame.

Madeline Lay got her first hit of the weekend, and the final one of the game for the Colonels, in the bottom of the fourth with a single.
- Nine more runs came across for the Quakers in the contest to finish the 11-2 win for the visiting squad.

Ashley Howard earned her first start in the circle for the home team and went four complete innings. She struck out two batters.
Madison Mullender went for one and two third innings followed by
Katherine Weller who saw her first collegiate action in the final third of the sixth frame.

Centre makes a quick turnaround and welcomes Anderson to Danville for a Sunday doubleheader. That twin bill is slated for a 12 p.m. start.
