Women’s golf closes in fifth at Westbrook Village Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz.- On Sunday, the Colonels rounded out their play in the Westbrook Village Invitational, hosted at the Westbrook Village Golf Course. In their final round, Centre women's golf bettered their first-round score of 306 with a 303 in day two, slotting them in fifth place with a completed score of 606.
 
George Fox took first place with a team score pf 568 while Clarem-Mudd-Scripps finished second with a combined score of 570. Emory rounded out the top three teams with a final mark of 575. 
 
Grace Walker moved her way up the leaderboard by shooting two under par in her final round. With a completed score of 145 (76-69), the senior jumped seven spots to finish in 11th outright. At the end of her play, Walker ranked eighth in the tournament for her performance on par-5 holes, averaging 4.83 pars a round.
 
Shooting no worse than a bogey in her two rounds, Anika Rana finished in a tie for 12th with a final mark of 146 (72-74). By tournament's end, Rana ranked second out of 68 student-athletes for total pars with 28.
 
Janie Morgan ranked third amongst the Colonels' roster. The junior claimed a share of the 31st seed with a combined score of 153 (76-77).
 
Emily Warner improved between her two rounds, taking four strokes off to close in a tie for 55th with a completed mark of 164 (84-80).
 
Rounding out Centre's line-up, Ellie Roof finished in a tie for 60th with a score of 166 (82-84).
 
Competing individually, Grace Vernon improved to a tie for 58th with a final mark of 165 (86-79).
 
SATURDAY RECAP On Saturday morning, the No. 14 Centre women's golf team opened their 2025 championship season in the Westbrook Village Invitational, hosted at the Westbrook Village Golf Course. Taking on 18-holes in day one, the Colonels rest in fourth place with a team score of 306.

As a team, the Gold & White currently ranks in the top three teams for the performances on par-5 holes. 
 
Anika Rana was the only Colonel to crack the top ten, landing in a tie for 6th with a round one with a score of 72, just one over par. After her opening 18-holes, Rana is currently the top ranked athlete in total pars with 15. 
 
Janie Morgan and Grace Walker shared the tie for 18th, each with a round score of 76. Morgan presently ranks seventh in the tournament for total birdies with three under her belt. 

Rounding out the Colonels' line-up, Ellie Roof obtained an opening score of 82, putting her in a tie for 50th while Emily Warner shot an 84, placing her in a tie for 55th
 
Competing individually, Grace Vernon landed in a tie for 61st with a first-round score of 86.
