Women’s golf takes fourth at Max and Susan Stith Invitational

ASHLAND, Va.- On Tuesday, the No. 17 Centre women's golf team rounded out their play in the Max and Susan Stith Invitational, hosted at the Dominion Golf Club. With a final team score of 617 (300-317), the Colonels finished fourth among the nation's best. 
 
No. 1 Carnegie Mellon remained in first with a combined mark of 604 (290-314) while No. 10 New York finished in second with a score of 610 (299-311). No. 2 Emory rounded out the top three with a team mark of 615 (305-310).

At the end of the invitational, Centre women's golf ranked second in both par 4 scoring and total birdies, placing first overall in par 3 scoring with an average of 3.33 a round. 

Grace Walker made her way to the top of Centre's line-up, landing in a tie for 14th with a completed score of 153 (75-78). After her two rounds, Walker ranked third in the tournament for her performance on par 3 holes, averaging 3.13 a round. 

Janie Morgan remained in second on the Colonels' roster, landing in a tie for 18th with a score of 155 (74-81). 

Ellie Roof made Centre's largest jump up the individual leaderboard, bypassing eight seeds to tie for 21st with a score of 156 (78-78).  At tournament's end, the sophomore tied with Walker for third most par 3s, also averaging 3.13 a round. 

Anika Rana improved to a tie for 24th in her final round, shooting a 157 (77-80). After 36-holes, Rana ranked fifth in the tournament for her play on par 4 holes with an average of 4.10 a round. 

Rounding out Centre's line-up, Emily Warner landed in a tie for 40th with a completed score if 162 (74-88).

MONDAY RECAP
On Monday, the No. 17 Centre women's golf team played their initial 18-holes in the Max and Susan Stith Invitational, hosted at the Dominion Golf Club. With a nationally ranked field in their view, the Colonels posted an impressive team score of 300, allowing for a third-place spotting ahead of their final round. 
 
No. 10 New York currently rests in second with a combined score of 299 while the top ranked team in Division III, Carnegie Mellon holds first with a team mark of 290.

After round one, Centre, as a team, ranks first in total par 3s with 3.20 a round, second in par 4s with 4.16 a round, second in total pars with 54, and third overall in combined birdies with nine.


Leading the Colonels in day one, Emily Warner and Janie Morgan shared a tie for tenth with matching scores of 74s. Warner tied for second overall on the par 3 individual leaderboard with an average of 2.75 a round while Morgan ranks fifth in that same statistic. 
 
Grace Walker followed just after her teammates with a score of 75. The senior shot no worse than a bogey on any hole, allowing her to land in a tie for 14th. Walker presently ranks among the field's top four for par play with a grand total of 13. 
 
Anika Rana was the final Colonel to crack the top 25, finishing five over par to slot her in a tie for 25th. After her opening 18-holes, Rana tied for third individually on the par 4 leaderboard with an average of 4 a round.
 
Rounding out Centre's line-up, Ellie Roof fell into the tie for 29th with an opening mark of 78.

The Colonels will return to action on Apr. 14 in the Win Palmer Cup.
