ROME, Ga.- On Sunday morning, Women's lacrosse traveled south to take on the Vikings in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) match-up. After a cold start, the Colonels' rally fell short with a final score of 17-13.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Vikings got out to a dominant start, finding the back of the net three times before the Colonels scored their first point.
Olivia Sweasy drove it in from the right to put Centre on the board but in the next possession, Berry answered, bringing the score to 4-1 entering the next frame.
- Berry created distance early, opening the period with three unbroken goals two minutes in. Midway though, the Colonels caught momentum as
Gracie Garner initiated a 4-0 tear to bring Centre within two.
Catherine Zeek entered the scoring column next followed by
Haley Rice then
Ellie Macdonald. In the final 80 seconds of the half, Berry put an end to the Colonels' run with their first goal in nearly 12 minutes.
Sophia Richardson answered with the help of
Addie Lewis before Rice closed the period's scoring, making it a one-point game entering the break.
- Centre carried their spark into the second half as Zeek tied the game 8-8 two minutes in. The Vikings answered to regain their lead, but Rice fed Garner to retie the game and open a 3-0 run for the Colonels. Garner scored next to secure a hat trick and give Centre their first lead of the game.
Isa Stumpf got on the board before Berry closed the period with two consecutive points, making it a tied game at 11-11 entering the final 15-minutes of play.
- Berry trailed away with four unbroken goals in matter of two minutes before Garner assisted Richardson to halt the Vikings' early run. Zeek scored next during a free position, but the Vikings closed the game with two late goals, setting the final score at 17-13, the Vikings favoring.

Carter David tied for the game's leader in ground balls with four.
- Macdonald led the Colonels in caused turnovers with four.

Mary Haley tallied nine saves and led the team to 17-21 clears.
