SEWANEE, Tenn. – Centre softball won one half of Friday's Southern Athletic Association (SAA) doubleheader at Sewanee.
The Colonels fell 5-0 in the first game and won 5-1 in the second contest.
GAME ONE: Sewanee 5, Centre 0
- The first person to be plated in the game was a member of the Gold & White.
Madalyn Irwin reached on a fielding error by the center fielder and then moved to second in the top of the first.
- Centre's first hits were in the top of the third inning.
Morgan Tabor singled to center field and then
Emily Lammers added a hit of her own.

Kira Mashburn had the Colonels' first extra bases hit of the game with a double to left field in the top of the fourth.
- Sewanee scored first on a ground out play in the bottom of the fourth. The Tigers then scored four additional runs in the sixth inning to go up 5-1, which was the winning score.

Madison Mullender went all six innings in the circle for Centre. She struck out one batter and allowed three earned runs.
GAME TWO: Centre 5, Sewanee 1
- The Colonels scored first in the second game. With two outs on the board in the top of the first,
Layne Ogle hit a triple down the left-field line. Tabor hit a single next and Ogle scored. Lammers hit a double to follow the score, but the two runners were left stranded.
- Sewanee evened the score with an RBI single in the bottom of the second frame.
- A Lammers sacrifice fly in the top of the third pushed Centre ahead again with a Irwin run.
- It was an error by the Tigers that scored the next run for the Colonels. Tabor came home on the pitcher's mistake in the sixth inning.
- Two more Gold & White runs crossed home in the top of the seventh. Mashburn scored on a ground out after reaching due to a double. A Lammers single scored
Sarah Bradley who was pinch running for
Morgan Tabor. That run secured the 5-1 Centre win.

Ashley Howard earned the pitching win for the Colonels. The freshman hurled all seven innings and struck out three batters while allowing only one run.

The teams play for the SAA series tomorrow, Saturday, April 19. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
