SEWANEE, Tenn. - Centre women's tennis fell to no. 21 Sewanee in the team's Southern Athletic Association (SAA) regular season finale match.
The Colonels finished the regular season 9-8 overall and 3-3 in the SAA, while the Tigers improved to 13-5 on the year and 5-0 in league action.
Two Centre doubles teams won at least one game in that portion of the match.
Grace Williams and
Carlie Mitchell fell 6-2 to Emma Caldwell and Ivy Wilson in the no. 2 match.
Carrie Foster and
Kayla Harger were setback 6-1 to Sarah Livingston and Mariella Congeni in the third-seeded contest.
Natalie Black and
Kennedy Herring fell 6-0 in the top doubles contest to Ansley Carpenter and Brooke Despriet.
Williams won the most games of any Colonel in singles action. She fell 6-4, 7-5 to Carpenter in the no. 1 match.
Three more members of the Gold & White team won multiple games. Black fell 6-1, 6-2 to Wilson in the no. 4 match.
Sara Dunn won a total of four games in her 6-2, 6-2 setback to Caldwell in the fifth-seeded match. Harger also won four games in the no. 6 match in her 6-4, 6-0 loss.
Mitchell was dropped 6-0, 6-0 by Livingston in the no. 2 match while Herring fell 6-1, 6-0 to Congeni in the third-seeded match.
WRAPPING UP
The SAA Tournament is the next challenge for the Centre team. That event runs April 25-27 in North Little Rock, Ark at the Burns Park Tennis Center.
