Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Noah Hughes, Associate Athletic Director for Communications and External Relations

Women’s tennis advances to SAA semifinals

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The no. 4 seeded Centre women's tennis team began the 2025 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament with a 4-0 win over the no. 5 seed Millsaps Majors. 

Both of the doubles matches that were completed went the way of the Colonels. Grace Williams and Carlie Mitchell won 6-3 in the no. 2 match over Alexis Oliver and Riley McClain. Carrie Foster and Kayla Harger had the same winning score in the third-seeded doubles match versus Skylar Spinks and Malakie Smith.  

The top Centre duo of Natalie Black and Kennedy Herring were up 4-3 when the doubles point was called for the Colonels. 

In singles play, the three matches that finished all went the way of the Gold & White. Foster was the first to finish as she took the no. 5 match over Segen Lister 6-1, 6-1. Herring was next to win, and she took a 6-1, 6-2 tally over McClain in the no. 3 match. Mitchell was the final winner as she triumphed 6-2, 6-3 over Vordick in the second ranked match. 

Three were in action when the match was called by decision. Williams was up 7-5, 3-2 in the no. 1 match with Mary Dabadie. Sara Dunn was up a set with a score of 6-0, 6-6 versus Spinks in the no. 6 contest. Black was down to Oliver 6-3, 3-6, 0-2 in the no. 4 match. 

UP NEXT  
The semifinals of the SAA Tournament are up next for the Colonels. Centre will face top seed Sewanee on Saturday, April 26 at 10 a.m. at the Burns Park Tennis Center.
