DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre softball closed out the 2025 regular season with a doubleheader against Rhodes. Both of today's games went to the visitors as Centre lost a 2-0 pitching duel in game 1 before falling 14-3 in game 2.
Game 1: Rhodes 2, Centre 0
- After
Ashley Howard kept the Lynx off the board for the first two innings, Rhodes delivered a two-run single with two outs in the top of the third in what proved to be the only runs of the game. Howard and the defense kept the game close, stranding a Rhodes runner in the fourth and turning a double play in the sixth to keep it at 2-0.
-
Morgan Tabor led off the fifth with a base hit, but this turned out to be Centre's only hit of the contest as the Colonels were shut down the rest of the way.
Game 2: Rhodes 14, Centre 3
- Rhodes jumped out to a big lead in the second, scoring five runs on five hits and two walks, with the last four tallies all coming with two outs.
- With one out in the second,
Kennedy Caudill put the Colonels on the board for the first time in the afternoon with a solo home run to cut the Centre deficit to 5-1.
- The Lynx got a run back in the third on a double steal, but Centre answered in the bottom half of the inning after Tabor lifted a two-out solo homer into the power alley to make it 6-2.
- Over the next two innings, Rhodes scored three more times to go up 9-2, but in the bottom of the fifth,
Aleiah Branin led off with a solo shot to chip away at the lead. The Colonels would put runners on the corners later in the inning but failed to bring them across and Rhodes followed in the sixth with five runs, four unearned, to put the game away.
