ATLANTA - The Centre softball team was well represented on this year's Southern Athletic Association postseason awards, highlighted by a First Team appearance from
Morgan Tabor.
Tabor was voted the top catcher in the conference by the league's coaches after leading the Colonels in nearly every major offensive category. The junior hit .358 for the season with 34 hits, 11 doubles and 15 RBIs while starting all 35 games for Centre. Tabor was Centre's most consistent hitter all season as she finished with nine multi-hit games.
Sophomore outfielder
Emily Lammers was named a Second Team All-SAA selection. In 31 games she finished with 26 hits and tied for the team lead with two home runs. In weekend action against Wilmington and Anderson on Mar. 8-9, Lammers hit .545 across two doubleheaders with one home run and four RBIs.
The remaining honorees all received All-SAA Honorable Mention, beginning with first-year utility player
Aleiah Branin. The Utah native finished the season strong with home runs in two of the final four games of the regular season and she led the Colonels with 16 runs scored. Her two-run homer in extra innings against Maryville on Apr. 27 extended the game.
Sophomore
Layne Ogle joined Branin on the Honorable Mention All-SAA squad. Despite missing 11 games and only starting 18 of 35 games, Ogle had an impact on the lineup with three multi-hit games in the final two weeks of the season. Ogle hit .625 in Centre's series against Sewanee as well as the Apr. 27 doubleheader against Maryville, including a four-hit game.
Centre's final All-Conference Honorable Mention selection was first-year pitcher
Katherine Weller. In 11 appearances - ten in relief - Weller led the Centre pitching staff in WHIP, striking out seven versus only two walks.
Finally, the conference released its All-Sportsmanship team for softball and Centre's selection this season was first-year
Jada Challiss.
