Georgetown, KY - Women's Tennis made a short trek north to take on Georgetown College on Saturday afternoon. The Colonels flexed their might throughout the day en route to a 5-2 win over the Tigers.
Kennedy Herring and
Natalie Black stepped up to the #1 doubles spot and made the move pay off with a dominant 6-0 win.
Sophie Maddux and
Skylar Keesee also rolled in #3 doubles, 6-1, to easily give Centre the overall team point.
Sara Dunn and
Emily Immordino completed the sweep in #2 doubles with a 7-6 (1) triumph.
In singles,
Grace Williams was back in her #1 spot and kept the beat going with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
Carlie Mitchell was headed to a tiebreak in the first set, but she was forced to retire, thus giving Georgetown its first win of the day.
Carrie Foster was right there with the backup in third singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win.
Shelby Franklin cruised in #5 singles, 6-1, 6-0, as did
Lucy Mitchell in #6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Karenna Thurman fell short in #4 singles, 2-6, 2-6.
The Colonels return home for a Sunday matchup against Transylvania starting at 1:00pm.
